Golf Vacations: Trying to Make Golf Travel Fun

November 12, 2020 By mrbg

Use to be planning a golf vacation was fun and something I did frequently for myself and others.
Nowadays,…the planning part is not so much fun.

So many things in golf, travel, and the WORLD have changed it makes making plans to do anything more than 30 minutes in advance a challenge.

OH Well, caulk it up to experience.

I was on a Golf Vacation on 9-11 and I was at a golf school back in the mid ’80s when there was a scare on us running out of gasoline that shut down all of the gas stations.

I survived those events…barely.  There were changes made to travel back then.   We have to start standing in long lines to be scanned and now we NEVER leave the house to go to the grocery store unless there is at least a half of a tank full of gas.

Just wonder changes to Golf travel this COVID-19 event is going to make?

One of the most obvious ones is…the need to keep your hands cleaned and the air around you filtered is probably going to be a mainstay for getting to the golf destination and back home.

I can almost feel my hands getting all dried up from the hand sanitizers and feel the bridge of my nose getting bruised from wearing a mask for hours each day.

Yes, golf travel is not going to be fun anymore.  However, maybe all this social distancing is going to bring back the Golf Road Trips.

Thinking about making the drive down to Austin or Houston to play a round of golf brings back fond memories.  Maybe Road-Trips will come back….oh, but wait..that would mean PotHoles would need to be fixed.   Maybe road-trips are not the best idea.

OH Well, I’m sure there will be something good come from all this time we have been closed in for our health.

Let’s all think positive and remember how much fun it was to fly out to Palm Springs, CA to work on our winter tans while playing as much golf we probably physically should.

Let me know how I can help.
