Business Golf: What to Work On in the Off Season

November 19, 2012 By mrbg

It will not be long before the North winds blow and the temperature drops to a painful level.  This is the time of year most golfers pack it in for the season.  This is the Off Season for golf.  Yes many people call their entire year the off season but technically the off season is the time of year when the weather will absolutely not allow for a pleasant round of golf.

Many businesses have an off season that coincides with winter weather months.  Since most of the major holidays are at the first part of the winter business falls off during these months.  This keeps them from operating effectively due to the interruptions to workflow by the many vacations and holidays.

So, many companies take the end of the year to retool or review their operations to prepare for the next year…or at least they should be doing this.  Same with the golfers.  They should take a look at their equipment or the quality of their game.  Golfers and businesses should take the off season and prepare for the first warm day of the Spring.

What many business golfers have found works well is to organize a business conference for the off season at a warm location that combines training seminars, workshops, staff meetings along with golf schools or clinics.  This works well to solve both issues and really is an effective way to secure a business’ operations and its employee’s morale.

I’ll be back in another blog to highlight a few businesses who have found the Off Season a perfect time to recharge their employee’s batteries.
