Golfers, Don’t Be Shy

August 16, 2010 By mrbg

Golf is hard to learn and it should not be taken for granted with thinking some people have a natural ability to playing golf.  Believe me; EVERYONE has to learn to play golf.  There are no born golfers.

So why do people play golf?

The first reason everyone has to playing golf is it is FUN.  Too many people forget about the excitement of hitting the golf ball and get frustrated after a few swings.  They forget that they have to learn to play golf.

Find What Is Fun for You!

What is fun to some is hitting the ball a trillion miles and to others it is putting the ball a trillion miles before falling into a hole.  The fun of golf continues all the way to the Professional level.

A Game of Averages

In reality golf has its ups and its down. Every golfer needs to keep this in mind as they learn to play.  Not every golf shot is going to be perfect and not all of them are going to be bad.

A golfer has to remember golf is a game of averages.  Take all the fun and not fun stuff about golf that goes on during a round of golf and by the end of the round it should have an average of fun for that round.

Some rounds are going to average out to be not fun and others are going to average as more fun than not.  A beginner should keep this in mind when they start their journey to learning to play golf.  If they learn to play Golf correctly they should average more fun than not fun rounds of golf.

Leave Perfection for the Pros

It is when people start off learning golf with hang ups on only wanting to play golf perfectly is when they find golf is not fun. This produces golf that is not fun for them or others around them.

Make golf fun by playing or practicing the part that is Not FUN so that part of the game become part of the FUN.  Then make sure to hit the fun shots as a reward. If you like the long ball, let the big dog hunt.  Go ahead and hit it a mile if that is the fun part to you.  Make sure to take the time during practice, warm up or play to hit that shot.  If you like to make long putts make sure to make that happen.  Just make sure to put the fun part of golf into your game.

I have a friend who can’t leave the course without hitting five shots out of a sand bunker…why..well hitting out of the sand is fun to him.

Golf is a game of fun..keep it that way and you will eventually play more fun golf.

Let me know how I can Help.
