This just in..Golf CAN BE played with other people.
I found it amazing, humorous and then sad when I ran into a group of non-golfers at a networking function whose ONLY exposure to golf is what they see driving by a driving range. Yes, that is what they think golf is..standing in a cage all by yourself hitting golf balls off a little rubber tee. Surprising? Yes, but then not really.
In communities around the country and probably the world, the game of golf has no exposure to the general public outside what can be seen from the street. Golf is not in the schools; it is not in conversations; and it is not seen in many communities due to it being locked up behind a Country Club’s hedged lined property line.
Get Social With Golf
This is so unfortunate and proves that the golf industry as a whole has failed at getting the word out about Golf. Golf is purely social and is a great teacher to the youth on how to get a long with others. It is easy to see how many, even those who have been exposed to the top levels of the game, may see golf as a lonely activity. The touring professionals seldom socialize during a round of competitive golf. If watching golf on TV was a person’s only exposure to the game then I could also see how that impression would lead someone to think golf is not a social activity.
Nothing can be further from the truth about about Golf. The game and the sport were created as an activity people played and watched together. Golf can be played in small groups are in large tournaments. What golf is and does is easy to understand if someone is exposed to all golf encompasses.
Golf is Social..there just no way around it unless you are one of these folks who thought golf was only at the driving range..geez. Hope I can help to change that way of thinking.
