Give Through Golf Makes Charity Fundraising Easy

March 14, 2010 By mrbg

Having been a golf tournament director for charity and non-charity golf events, I can truthfully say, the challenges incurred from the fundraising portion of a charity golf tournament can really take the fun out of producing a charity golf event.  Or, for any charity event for that matter.  There has to be a better way to raise funds for charity.

Now Give Through Golf has made it much easier to raise significantly more funds than what just entry fees and sponsorships can total.

How is it done?..Simple!

The concept of Give Through Golf Virtual Ball drop is based off the Helicopter Ball Drop.  If you have not seen one of these operations it is an ordeal.  Volunteers sell golf balls for a significant amount of money..usually $100 or so each since the prizes usually include a new car and the cost of the Helicopter is way up there.  Even at the low end the price range the amount raised is limited to the number of balls that the Helicopter can lift…generally around 10,000 ball maximum.

Once all the balls are sold and numbered and put in the Helicopter it all depends on the weather and wind over the site where the balls are going to be dropped to determine if it is even going to happen.  The ball drop is generally onto a green on the driving range.

Then comes crowd control..everyone who bought a ball wants to see the ball drop and it is impossible to get 10,000 people safely around a location to watch.  Then once the balls are dropped the volunteers and officials have to determine who won.

As you can see..there is a lot of logistics to a Helicopter Ball drop that will drive a Tournament Director crazy.

Virtual Golf Ball Drop

With the Virtual Ball Drop produced by GTG, the only logistics a tournament director or a charity fundraiser director has to worry about is what day to have the drop.  It is that simple.  GTG provides marketing support and a web-page to send donors to so they can purchase as many balls as they are interested in purchasing.  They are only $20 a ball.  Then on the day of the Virtual Ball Drop everyone who purchased a ball will be notified my email so they can watch the Ball Drop animated presentation from the leisure of their home or office..as well as at the main event.

It is just that simple.

With the 20,000 ball drop a New Lexus is offered the winner plus a list of other prizes for the runner ups.  GTG takes their fee from the funds raised and the charity organization gets up to 75% of the Gross proceeds raised.  If you do the math, that is a potential to raise $300k..when was the last time your charity golf tournament raised that kinda funds?

There are lesser number of ball packages to offer and the amount sold can always be increased.  It really is that simple and there is No Up Front Costs…so what do you have to lose?
