The Power of Golf Blogs

February 18, 2010 By mrbg

It always excites me to hear from my offline business golfers.  Especially when they call me to tell me they read my blog..more importantly, they liked my blog.  Now, if I can get them to start making comments on the blog..Oh Well.

In a recent gathering at the club I reunited with some of my acquaintances I had not seen since last fall. Naturally, the theme of the casual affair was to hear what each other had been up to since we all last saw each other.

Once the conversation got to me I had little to report since one of the others said..

Hey, I saw your blog!  I like how you combine the golf and business thing!

My blogging on golf, business and business golf seemed to intrigue the group.   I asked if they checked out other blogs and what type of blogs interested them.  It was interesting that all said they look for blogs on golf.  They also made comment on what draws them to the blogs on golf.

Several reported they now read blogs since they don’t trust the mainstream news or sports media to report outside what their sponsors want them to report.  Unfortunately they named off a few of my fellow golf bloggers as being some they shunned due to them being associated with major mainstream golf or sports media center blog sites.

Still, what I am hearing is encouraging.  The golf blogs are now being a source of information for more golfers or at the very least a place for them to go and get another opinion on a golf related issue.  This is good and this is good for Golf.  It also shows that more golfers are coming online.

Now, if I could only get a hold of more of these newbies to the internet to show them how to avoid the pot-holes of the information highway maybe more of them will stay online instead of giving up on the internet as only being for scammers as they have been doing for the past 10 years.  I got my work cut out for me, but ..hey..someone has got to do more to get golfers online..I might as well be that someone.

Let me know how I can help.
