Top 3 Reasons for Asking Someone to Play Business Golf

July 20, 2009 By mrbg

There are probably more than three reasons to ask someone to play business golf, but for those who need a reason, here are the Top 3.

Business Development

There is no debate when it comes to Business Golf being one of the best business development tools available to every level of business.  Where else can someone show off the integrity of the person who owns or manages the business while showing firsthand what the product or service can offer the market?  Developing business from slick advertisements have to be backed up with some way of showing that company can be trusted.   Integrity and trust can only be built through face to face marketing.  Business golf accomplishes both rather easily.

Customer Retention

The name of the game in today’s economy is keeping business.  If a business has not built a database of every customer they have then they need to do so.  Even those businesses who churn out millions of products and services to billions of customers need to know their customers. Outside of the employees of the business the customers are the business’ number one asset.

Taking a customer out for a round of business golf does a lot to send the message ‘you care’.  The time spent with a customer also offers a window into how a business is doing and hear first hand how customers are using the product or service.

Mental Health

Everyone in business needs a break from the grind.  The pressure of keeping a business going is tremendous.  Taking a few hours a month to get out and clear the head will result in clearer thinking and more productive.  Asking an employee to join you on the courses will allow the round to be expensed while offering a fresh insight into how business issues can be solved.

Business golf is a very underrated business tool.  Why?  Because most people who golf don’t see golf as something they could do in business or are willing to be seen playing golf as part of business.  Most feel this way purely due to them not knowing the impact golf has on evaluating a business deal or the people who are going to be part of the deal.

Learning to play business golf helps so many aspect of business and life.  Learn to play it.
